汉唐以来繁荣富庶的巴蜀地区在南宋末年、元朝末年、明朝末年连遭战乱，因而人口锐减，民生凋敝。明清两朝均实施大规模的移民优惠政策，对巴蜀地区进行填实。移民的迁入，使生产得到恢复，人口迅速增长，巴蜀地区重现出繁荣的景象，忠州也因此迎来了工商业的发展。

Since the Han and Tang Dynasties, the prosperous and affluent Bashu Region was endangered by the war in the late Yuan Dynasty. The local population drastically decreased and all businesses were almost ruined. Both Ming and Qing Dynasties implemented large-scale preferential immigration policies to populate the Bashu areas. Immigrants moved in so quickly that production was restored soon. With the population’s growth, the Bashu Region restored its prosperity, and Zhongzhou ushered in a good era of the great development of businesses and commerce.
